The number of Transport Network Company (TNC) rose to six with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) accreditation of taxi-hailing platform Micab.

Micab is set to compete with Grab Taxi and two other newcomers Hirna and Hype.

Meanwhile, three new app-based ride-hailing service companies are expected to operate this month taking on Grab Car. These are Hype, GoLag, and Owto.

The LTFRB, in a report by GMA News, released the TNCs’ fare schemes:

Base fare

  • Grab: Php 40.00 – 80.00
  • GoLag: Php 40.00 – 90.00
  • Hype: Php 40.00 – 80.00
  • Owto: Php 40.00 – 60.00

Per kilometer charge

  • Grab: Php 10.00 – 14.00
  • GoLag: Php 14.00 – 18.00
  • Hype: Php 14.00 – 15.00
  • Owto: Php 12.00 – 17.50

Price surge

  • Grab: up to 1.5x
  • GoLag: up to 1.5x
  • Hype: up to 2.0x
  • Owto: up to 2.0x

Per minute charge

  • Grab: Php 2.00*
  • GoLag: Php 2.00
  • Hype: none
  • Owto: Php 2.00

Cancellation fee

  • Grab: none
  • GoLag: none
  • Hype: none
  • Owto: Php 50.00

“We are allowing the riders to have choices of what TNC they would like to use for their transportation requirements or needs. They will be able to compare now the different prices that these TNCs have to offer. Not only the prices but the services as well,” LTFRB official Aileen Lizada said.
